Steve Dixon.
Steve is the Principal of the firm. He has 29 years experience in the
UK
and offshore life industry. He
is a qualified actuary (Fellow of the
Institute
of
Actuaries
) as well as holding a life actuary
(including with profits) practicing certificate from the actuarial profession. Steve is an
Associate of the
Institute
of
Directors
. Steve has experience in
dealing with conventional with profits business, unit linked business,
non-profit business, unitised with profits as well as dealing with life,
pensions and PHI business. Steve has been involved with several key
special projects for clients and is well known amongst the actuarial profession.
He has been on the Life TCF Working Party and is currently on the Life Solvency
2 Working Party. He is also a member of the Pru Regs Working Party for
ILAG and on the Legislation Committee of the AFS. He maintains a key interest in all work undertaken by the firm.

Alastair George
.
Alastair
is a Consultant in the firm. He joined the firm in August 2002.
After graduating from
Nottingham
University
in 1998, he worked in Friends
Provident and Cornhill Insurance on their pensions review and FSAVC loss
assessments where he progressed to signing off cases and training staff. He has
worked on investment analysis, analysis of insurance company experience,
calculations of asset shares using actual investment and expense data as well as
working on reserving for life assurers since joining the firm. He has
three of the actuarial examinations completed.

Bianca Hanscombe
.
Bianca
is a Consultant in the firm. A graduate of the
University
of
Zimbabwe
with a post graduate Diploma in
Actuarial Science from UCT. She emigrated to the
UK
in 1998 and has worked as a loss
assessor in Cornhill Insurance's pension review progressing to signing off cases
and training new staff. She now has nearly completed all of the actuarial
examinations and
joined the firm in October 2003. She has worked on valuations, running
model offices, ICAs for clients, reserves for medical expenses , designing valuation
systems, pricing new products, developing model office systems and carrying out investigations into experience.

Derek Pike
.
Derek
is an Associate of the firm. Derek is a Fellow of the Faculty of
Actuaries. He qualified in 1982 and has been widely involved in working
parties on with profits business for the actuarial profession. He is on
the Faculty's Bonus and Valuation Research Group and has co-authored papers on "Restructuring Mutuals -
Principles and Practice", "With Profits Maturity Payouts, Asset Shares
and Bonus Smoothing" and “With Profits Smoothing - A Stochastic Study”.
Derek has been involved with the pensions review and has worked as a sign off
auditor on a number of reviews. He has carried out projects in
Poland
and in
Belgium
and
Luxembourg
. He has worked in
Chicago
for a time and has a keen
interest in international life developments.

Peter Pook
.
Peter is an Associate in the firm. He
graduated from the London School of Economics in 1957 and joined the UK
Provident Institution as an actuarial student, qualifying in 1962.
In 1963 he moved to Legal & General Assurance Society where he had a
range of roles, including ordinary life valuation, a spell in internal audit,
and a ‘special projects’ role in assisting and deputising for the appointed
actuary in his work on professional and insurance industry committees and
working parties. He retired in 1996,
after which he worked part-time for five years as a loss assessor in Cornhill
Insurance’s pensions review. He
joined the firm in November 2004 and after a period working part time, became an
associate in July 2007. He is involved mainly on special projects.

Mick Rennie.
Mick is an
Associate of the firm. He is a Fellow of the Institute
of Actuaries. He qualified in 1985. He
has co-authored SIAS papers on the EMU and the year 2000 issue (“Ostriches and
Emus”) and the development of insurance systems (“A Walk through the
Information Technology Maze”).
Mick gained wide experience of unit
linked business before in recent years working mainly on system development
projects. These projects have included all types of life and pensions
business and have covered development of calculation systems, system migrations
and marketing data warehouses.

Phil Smith.
Phil
is a Consultant in the firm. Phil graduated from Heriot Watt in 2000 and
joined Lloyds TSB / Scottish Widows as an actuarial student. He joined
Hewitt Bacon and Woodrow as a loss assessor in their compliance consultancy
division before joining Cornhill's pension review team. Phil joined the
firm in August 2002 and has carried out product development work, investigations
into experience, asset share calculations, special project work as well as working on reserving for
the clients of the firm. He is currently continuing his actuarial studies.

Rae Elson.
Rae is a Consultant in the firm. Rae graduated from University of Kent
at Canterbury in 2007 in Actuarial Science. At university, she enjoyed the
modules on contingencies, financial modelling, pensions and life assurance.
Rae continues her studies.
